I received a call from a client this morning who told me he had called his bank and inquired about refinancing. The client is no longer occupying the home as he had to move due to a job. The loan officer told him “quit paying your mortgage. It will be a year before anyone ever gets around to you.” When the client said that he had moved from the home, the loan officer’s response was, “oh, then it will probably be a year and a half, we’re concentrating on keeping people in their home.” Are you kidding me? Quit paying? And we wonder why the banking system is as screwed up as it is?
